The Great Awakening

This summer I turned 29.  In reflecting upon my 20's that week, the word that came to mind was...frantic.  The last 9 years have been full, practically every minute.  In some ways I am grateful beause I have experienced so much.   My desire for my 30's is...centered.

A few months ago I posted that my 29th year would be...The Great Awakenening.  How prophetic.  In this  quest to be centered it means letting go of an overwhelmingly full schedule.  Thanks to graduation, a 3 week vacation, and working at a ski shop...this is possible.

I have been awakened to so many of the small things I have been missing over the last few years...

First is beauty...the beauty of nature, of God, and taking in the good stuff.

The view from Boreas Pass in Breck a few weeks ago when the leaves were in full swing.

I've been riding my bike to and from work everyday.  On Saturday I rode home in an amazing sunset and just sat on the porch and watched it.  This photo doesn't do it justice.

My worship times have been so varied and enlivening...podcasts, IHOP prayer room web stream, of course lots of journaling and my newly discovered ability to make playlists on youtube.

I've also had a lot more time with the people I love...

This is Truman, Woody, and the newest Martinkus family member...Harrison Beau born a little less than two weeks ago.  It was so fun to make dinner, celebrate with a birthday cake and just hang out with no time limit.

I've also been a little spontaneous...

Decided at 2 p.m. on Friday to go see Gregory Alan Isakov that night at 8 with some of my favorites at the Gothic.  Magical as always. (sorry for the crackle, but you get the point...and yes, that is Cam shouting in the background (smile)...)

I'm really loving this time.
