Take a Picture...It'll Last Longer

Yesterday was my first snowstorm in Denver since my official residency began last August.  I am left with a few thoughts and observations post dumpage...
  •   MOST people don't freak out here about snow.  If it happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't.  Get a few groceries, but whatever.  Those from the deep south tend to freak, but it's ok because they are tempered by transplants from Michigan.
  •   The weather people have predicted snow several times this year, but have been wrong.  You would think that if you are a weather person in Colorado you would be able to properly identify a snowstorm when it's coming your way...I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin...
  •   Snow=being in mountains.  One not living in Colorado might think...hmm...they are in the mountains and they have snow, but Denver is not IN the mountains...so we get antsy and drive in freakish conditions to sit in gale force winds and snow so we can fly down it on thin sticks...and we LOVE it.
  •  Snow days mean people get together.  We don't do snow days singularly here.  Any excuse for a party and we take it.
  •  Events are not called off until it is close to impossible to get there.  Some schools got the kiddos there and then closed the school a few hours later.
  • Today (the day after) there are blue skies and the sun is out... people are walking around in short sleeves on snow shoes.  That's why we love Denver...
These are a few shots of our back deck...I tried to get Lucey in them, but she was sinking and not happy about it.  Now I'm headed to the mountains...Spring Skiing has a whole new meaning.
