Too Quiet
Today started at 5:15 a.m. I went with Drew and to the airport. Hopefully he is in Accra by now with Johnson's brother, Amos, seeing some of the sights and people there.
The Asare kids left yesterday for boarding school in Kumasi (a few hour south) leaving only a few of us in the house. It's sooo quiet.
A few highlights that haven't been mentioned yet:
*Saturday, Drew went with Johnson to see many of the ministry sites (hopefully he will post about this one) while I helped with training the new Radach workers and we all met up at the cultural centre to do some bargaining.
* Drew and I ate rabbit for the first time last night. We both enjoyed it. I think he led you to believe in his other post that we would be eating squirrel. It didn't happen. He was a little disappointed at first, but the rabbit cheered him up as only rabbits can.
* This past week, I spent Thursday, Drew's day at the orphanage, interviewing 12 potential employees of Radach Memorial Centre. We picked 4 workers that we think will do a good job. Saturday we had an orientation for them and they will begin full time work today. It was a blessing to be a part of this whole process. The best part for me has been getting to know the managress, Patricia, who has quickly become a sister to me.
*Yesterday, Drew went with Kwaku and Jordan to the inaugural game at the new Tamale stadium, which they built for the Africa 2008 cup. It was a pretty big deal, so I hope he will tell more about it when he gets home.
*Today I have spent most of my time with my dear friend Paulina and her daughter Laura. She was my best friend when I lived here 3 years ago and I have missed her dearly. We had a great time catching up and spending the morning together.
The next few days I hope to re-visit the girls school I taught in, work in the orphanage Drew worked at last week, and spend some time with more of those in ministry here in Tamale.
Time here has been short, but so amazing.
Thank you for all of your prayers. Please continue to pray for my time here, Drew's travels, and for Johnson's mother who will go in for surgery Tuesday (he has traveled to be with her).
Love to all of you,
Calley
P.S. A HUGE thanks to my sweet sis, Abbey for her administrative work with this blog.
love you sis!
