Yesterday our small entourage ventured to the village of Cheyohi (pronounced Cheyoi). Johnson made arrangements for there to be a women's meeting where I would speak, then after I would hand out the jewelry and scarves to the women and Drew and the guys would hand out second hand clothing.
The whole night before and the way to the village I was feeling so inadequate and a bit discouraged thinking about what I had to offer to the village women. In fact, right before I almost told Johnson I couldn't do it. Then that still, small voice reminded me that I am here to serve and He can in fact speak through me in spite of what I felt.
So I spoke with the help of Pastor Moses our Dagbani translator, from Psalm 45:10 about being daughters of the King. Upon walking into the small village church the tears started to come because they were all dressed in their Sunday best with all the women and children singing, dancing, and drumming.
After the service and more singing, handing out the gifts, and playing with the kids. The women decided it was time to put a baby on my back and make me one of them. Such an honor. We all had a lot of laughs about them training me to "back the baby." And one woman (the pastor's wife) said she would in fact travel with me to the US to help me back my babies when they arrived.
I didn't want to leave the village. That much happiness is rare to find in one morning.
Love and blessings to all of you!
Calley
