The Day to Day

Earlier in the summer when Mary asked what I wanted to do in Jordan my response was, "I want to know the ins and outs of your life." (or something like that)... When your best friend lives overseas, the adventure exists in experiencing what they do daily.  With that in mind, my time in Jordan has exceeded my expectations in the 4 days I've been here.  I have experienced the cabs, the shopping, the team that the Caldwells do life with, cooking, eating out downtown, precious Muslim friends the girls on the team are building relationships with, Arabic dancing, buying pirated movies for about a dollar, Ramadan, and most recently...the best ice cream in Jordan and a perfect running trail about a mile from the house.
The best ice cream in Amman...Gerards.  On your right: Nutella ice cream with huge chunks of Nutella in it...OMG.  And on your left the only thing Mare truly craved during her pregnancy...mint chocolate chip shake.  We sat outside and had great talks about missionary life.

I'm proud to say, I broke in my new shoes on a trail in Amman, Jordan

A magical little desert oasis right in the heart of Amman.  The perfect place for a morning run.

The view from the Caldwell's window on a beautiful breezy day, which is a welcomed change from the heatwave that hit Amman the last few weeks with 109 F.

Looking over part of the huge city...

Other direction with mountains in the distance.

Abdun, the rich part of the city where we ventured for our ice cream.

Tonight and tomorrow will be less ordinary (at least for Mare and Drew).  We rented a car to 24 hours to venture around Amman (before the end of Ramadan craziness begins tomorrow night) and Mare and I are taking a girls trip to the Dead Sea.  Can't wait to float, talk our faces off and bask in some Arabian sun.
