Settling In...

It's good to be back in Amsterdam. Shelby and I agreed as we walked from the train station, that it feels like we never left. There is something familiar about the bike bells, canals, and gracious welcome of the YWAMers...we are happy to be back. When we walked in we saw our dear friend Sebastian from last summer sitting at the reception desk. He was so happy to see us and immediately reminded us that we are among friends.
While the girls rested, I met with our host, Melissa to plan out the beginning of our trip. Tomorrow we will spend most of the day getting Mady and Kirby acquainted with the city via bikes and hang out with the YWAM students doing Discipleship Training School. They are hosting a community night, which should be a good reminder of what YWAM is all about.
Thursday we will begin the immersion into the Red Light District culture. There is another American group here we will be teaming up with to hear from the Cleft leaders Melissa and Edna about prostitution and sex-trafficking. After that meeting, we will prayer walk the District and de-brief as a team.
Melissa and I also talked about the strategy for networking with other organizations to see what impact they are having on women in the Red Light District as well as explore the opportunity for research to happen. The work is going to be tough. Many of these organizations don't trust outsiders. Please pray that these opportunities would be productive and research would happen...
Other than that we are all doing well in spite of being in the same clothes we left Tulsa in...the girls have GREAT attitudes and are counting it all as part of the adventure. Thanks for your prayers as we settle in.
Love,
Calley
