A Day in the Life...
A few weeks ago I was asked by one of my favorite high school freshman to come speak at his school (which shall remain nameless to protect the innocent)for their early morning gathering of Christian students.
Of course I agreed and arrived around 7:10 a.m.
#1 I had to stop at the visitor check in, which is this hi-tech machine that has you enter your drivers license and then all the sudden I was looking at myself because a camera wanted to take a picture of me. So I pushed the button and out popped this badge of me looking fiercely like a zombie.
#2 My young friend and I proceeded to the classroom of a biology teacher with deer heads and owls all over the wall. I guess Freshman love that kind of stuff.
#3 A kid was already there tuning up his electric guitar to rock out and wake up the "crowd."
#4 The "crowd" was 10 Freshman boys. Yep. And I think everyone of them had some sort of hoody on.
#5 Did I mention I did a talk at 7:30 a.m. for 10 Freshman boys?? I told them I woudn't talk to them about shopping. No laughs. Tough crowd folks.
#6 At the end my young friend thanked me for coming and told all the fellas to bring their girlfriends back the next week. They all started giggling. I wonder if any of them will be back.
I think they come for the electric guitars and the mounted dead animals anyways.

For future reference, and frosh bro speaking engagements, Jon is available complete with stuffed deer heads, guitars, and a hi-tech bow & arrow if you can get it past security.
Just thinking ahead...
